Are you looking to start swimming at Dolphin Academy, but have a question? Feel free to ask us, we are only more than happy to help. Here are a few of the most popular questions are new swimmers asked us.

Booking is easy; you book direct via our website. We are open 50 weeks of the year (we close 2 weeks at Christmas and for Bank Holidays – our holiday schedule is here). You are welcome to join us at any time; our progressive programme rolls on and runs throughout the year. We continuously assess our swimmers to make sure everyone is in the correct swim group/level so rest assured, and we will be in touch to move your swimmer up when its time.

You can view your swimmer’s progress via our online Parent Dashboard, here your child’s swimming teacher will grade their skills and pass their distance awards. Of course, you can always contact Becky for a full update if you have any questions!

Once you see a pass on a set of skills or distance award, you can go ahead and purchase their swimming award via our online shop. Your swimmer’s award will arrive through the post written and signed by our Head Swimming Teacher, Becky.

At the moment in line with Government Guidelines we advise just one parent/carer attend the swimming lesson per child. As soon as the guidance changes, we will let you know, however should you need to bring an extra sibling or helper with you for whatever reason, please do let us know prior to attending and we can arrange this for you. Your safety as well as your swimming requirements will always be carefully considered.


• Appropriate swimwear

• Swimming Goggles
We advise our Stage 2 swimmers and above to wear swimming goggles and would recommend brands such as Speedo or Zoggs. Top Tip: goggles come in different sizes depending on age – make sure you get the right ones as they might leak otherwise! It is also advisable to practice putting them on at home.

• Towel
A nice fluffy towel will help your Dolphin to get nice and warm after their swimming lesson

• Swimming Hat
We prefer our dolphins to be in swimming hats. This helps to keep our pools hygienic, stops hair from getting in their eyes and makes a faster, more streamline swimmer! You can buy our branded hats here.

Yes, there is free parking at all of our locations.

From Stage 1 and above, a parent is not needed inside the water however, in line with Governing Body Guidelines, beginner classes will need a parent/guardian in the water to assist with skills.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer alternative lessons if you cannot make your regular slot, but we can look to permanently move your lesson. Please contact us if this is something you would like to do.

Your card details can be updated via your Parent Dashboard, on a per subscription basis.

We are always very sad to lose one of our Dolphins, but we understand that sometimes circumstances change. Customers are able to cancel via their Parent Dashboard where their subscription and place will be cancelled from the following month.

There is a strict process that needs to be followed when attending Dolphin Academy, this has all been laid out clearly on our dedicated Covid-19 Policy page.
